J-Lo Stars in Local Children’s Hospital Ad
As the newest spokesperson for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, actress, singer and American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez is now starring in regional advertisements supporting the local CMN Hospital, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network.
As the mother of twins, Lopez understands the value of children’s hospitals in our communities. Commercials supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals nationwide also appeared during American Idol last season.

Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
On May 27, 425 WMCHealth volunteers, who donated 37,000 hours of their time at the Valhalla campus in 2014, were celebrated at an annual volunteer appreciation luncheon at Tappan Hill Mansion.
These individuals were recognized for donating their time and talents to support WMCHealth’s mission and for providing assistance and support to hospital staff, patients, family members and the community at large.
Volunteers at WMCHealth range in age from 16 to 98 and serve 45 different departments across the Valhalla campus, which includes Westchester Medical Center, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and the Behavioral Health Center. Volunteer tasks include administrative work, child life support, Eucharistic ministry, family and caregiver support, mobile library services, research, greeting and navigation assistance and more.

Hudson Valley Magazine, Excellence in Nursing Awards
Four WMCHealth nurses were among the top 20 honorees for Hudson Valley magazine’s Excellence in Nursing Awards. The awards recognize local nurses who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to give hope, help and healing to patients of the Hudson Valley.
Teresa Chirichella, RN
Teresa Chirichella is an Emergency Department nurse at Westchester Medical Center with more than 25 years of experience. Teresa was recognized for her critical-thinking abilities and the kindness and compassion that she shows patients.
Mary Luvera, RN
Director, Oncology Services
Mary Luvera, RN, at MidHudson Regional Hospital, has more than 45 years of nursing experience in the Hudson Valley. Among the achievements for which she is recognized are her roles in advocating for excellence in oncology nursing practice and patient outcomes and elevating the requirements for RNs in the oncology field.
Jamie McPartlan, RN
NICU Charge Nurse
Jamie McPartlan has worked in Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital’s neonatal ICU since 2007. She is described by a colleague as “an excellent communicator who leads by example and works tirelessly to comfort patients and their families.”
Tina Roeder, RN
Clinical Nurse Specialist
Tina Roeder is the Clinical Nurse Specialist and Educator for the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. She is recognized as someone always willing to help and mentor others, making a significant impact on the practice of neonatal nursing.
Community Fundraisers: Making a Difference
In 2014, more than 30 community fundraisers raised over $160,000 for Westchester Medical Center, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, the Behavioral Health Center and MidHudson Regional Hospital.

Making Strides for MHRH:
More than 200 runners and walkers gathered in Beacon, New York, to raise funds for the Panichi Family Center for Communications and Learning, a special needs preschool at MidHudson Regional Hospital. The fundraiser has contributed thousands of dollars over 10 years.
Scoring a Home Run for WMC
Firefighters from the Bedford Village, Bedford Hills, Katonah and Pound Ridge fire departments raised $4,000 through a charity softball game in fall 2014, sponsored by the Bedford-Armonk Rotary Club to benefit trauma and burn care at WMC.
