New TICU Family and Friends Waiting Area Dedicated

Posted By: Advancing Care

Westchester Medical Center recently dedicated the new Evan Lieberman Friends and Family Lounge in its Trauma Intensive Care Unit in a ceremony to honor the memory of the 19-year-old patient who died following severe injuries sustained as a passenger in a motor vehicle accident.

The lounge was thoroughly updated and expanded to double the size of the previous space. It is now more than 2,400 square feet and includes such amenities as a larger waiting area, comfortable seating, showers, lockers, multimedia touch points and a quiet resting area. These new features are designed to provide comfort and convenience to the families during a challenging period. The new space and amenities were created with the generous donations to and fundraising by “Evan’s Team,” a foundation that was formed by the Lieberman family after the tragedy.

Westchester Medical Center now has private resting areas for Trauma ICU families.

“A lot of people in this room took a very difficult situation and turned it into something wonderful,” Michael Israel, President and CEO of WMCHealth, stated at the dedication ceremony. “I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart, Ben and Debbie Lieberman and everyone else here for mobilizing, to do this for the Medical Center, but especially for our patients and our patients’ families.”
