Superheroes Join Forces to Battle Dirt and Grime

Posted By: Advancing Care

An army of costumed superheroes descended upon Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), with a unique mission: to provide some fun while fighting some dirty windows.

Costumed superheroes such as Superman, Spider-Man, Captain America, Supergirl and Batman — all of whom have day jobs as staff members of TriState Facade Services of Poughkeepsie — washed windows at the three-story Valhalla children’s hospital. The heroes used special equipment to “fly” outside of the hospital’s highest windows to complete their cleaning mission and entertain patients, family members and staff inside the facility. The special window-washing event is the highlight of Superheroes Day, a positive and fun diversion for pediatric hospital patients who are often hospitalized for long periods of time. Staff members and families showed solidarity by also dressing up in costumes to honor the real heroes: the patients battling serious medical challenges at the hospital.
