The 100.7 WHUD team will broadcast live from the lobby of the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, on November 18-20, marking the 11th annual 100.7 WHUD Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s Radiothon.
During the live broadcast (November 18 and 19 from 5:30 am to 7 pm, and November 20 from 5:30 am to 10 pm), there will be special guests, events in the hospital lobby, and nearly 40 families will stop by to tell heartwarming and inspirational stories of their hospital experiences, all in an effort to garner financial support for the hospital and its life-changing and lifesaving pediatric services.
Since its first broadcast in 2004, the Radiothon has raised more than $2 million for Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, but the connection between WHUD and the Children’s Hospital began years earlier.
Current morning show host Mike Bennett was there in 1996 when John and Brenda Fareri announced the initial fundraising goal for the Hudson Valley children’s hospital. “In 1998, when the effort to raise the money needed to complete the [hospital] began, WHUD program director Steven Petrone was approached by representatives of the Children’s Hospital Foundation to present an ‘On-Air Toy Auction, to raise money for the building of the new hospital,” says Bruce Feniger, General Manager of Pamal Broadcasting, WHUD’s parent company.
“The ties between 100.7 WHUD and Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital run deep and we hope will continue for many years to come,” says Feniger.
The ties between the radio station and the Westchester Medical Center Health Network also run deep, with 100.7 WHUD’s participation in several annual events including: the Go The Distance Walk and Family Fun Day, the Westchester Medical Center Gala, and the IHOP Pancake Fundraiser, as well as Girls Night Out events.
