Getting Dirty for a Great Cause

Posted By: Advancing Care

Hundreds of brave and athletic Hudson Valley residents recently gathered on the campus of Valhalla’s Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), to get dirty by taking part in a unique 5K foot race.

As part of the Evan Lieberman Westchester Medical Center Trauma Mud Run, competitors tested their mental and physical agility through a series of challenging obstacles — including a fire tower, tire swings, cargo nets, running streams and a giant mud pit. All participants were also doused by paint from spray guns as they took on two of the toughest obstacles on the course. Children also had their fun during the event at a special Kids’ Dash heat after the main event. The endurance race is a key fundraiser for the Joel A. Halpern Regional Trauma and Burn Center at Westchester Medical Center, a Level I trauma- and burn-care center. As the only burn center between New York City and the Canadian border, the center is an essential resource for the most seriously burned and injured patients in the Hudson Valley.
