Westchester Medical Center Surpasses 200th Heart Transplant

Posted By: Advancing Care

Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), recently completed the 200th life-changing heart transplant at its WMCHealth Heart and Vascular Institute.

The program began in 2001 and has grown due to the vast experience of Westchester Medical Center’s medical and surgical cardiac-care teams and the high quality of care for which the medical center is renowned. Higher survival rates and shorter wait times than the national average offer best possible outcomes for regional heart transplant patients.

Westchester Medical Center is in the top 10 percent of transplant centers nationwide, and the number of patients receiving heart transplants here continues to grow each year. The WMCHealth Heart and Vascular Institute is a one-of-a-kind, multispecialty services practice that brings together the best physicians in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery and pediatric cardiovascular services practice in the state-of-the-art facilities of Westchester Medical Center and its network locations.
